This interdisciplinary session addresses the various mechanisms of the Sun-Earth connection by which external forcings (e.g. solar radiative variability, solar energetic particles, galactic cosmic rays, but also solar wind changes) may impact the upper, lower and middle terrestrial atmosphere, eventually affecting climate.

The focus will be on the couplings between atmospheric layers and on their eventual impact on climate. Both physical and chemical processes will be addressed. The dynamics of the Sun-Earth system will be studied on time-scales going from short transients such as solar flares and geomagnetic storms to the 11-yr solar cycle and beyond.

We encourage contributions related to the European COST ES 1005 action TOSCA. Contributors will be invited to submit their contribution to the Journal of "Space Weather and Space Climate".
